Side Effects
Transient redness, dryness, peeling, and mild irritation during the first 2-4 weeks of use. Typically resolves as skin adapts. Manage by starting at lowest concentration, using 2-3 times per week initially, and gradually increasing frequency. Use a gentle moisturizer and avoid other irritating actives.
Retinoids increase UV sensitivity. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) is mandatory. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and consider protective clothing during treatment. Risk of sunburn and accelerated photodamage if sun protection is inadequate.
Increased epidermal turnover can cause temporary dryness and visible flaking. Manage with a hydrating moisturizer applied after product absorption. Use a humidifier in dry environments. Reduce application frequency if severe.
Localized redness, itching, swelling, or hives may indicate allergy to motretinide or formulation excipients. Discontinue use and perform patch test on small area before resuming. Consult dermatologist if reaction persists.
Temporary facial redness or flushing, particularly in individuals with sensitive skin or rosacea. Usually resolves within 1-2 weeks. May be reduced by starting at lower concentration or decreasing application frequency.

Uncommon but possible changes in skin pigmentation, particularly in darker skin types or with excessive sun exposure. Ensure strict sun protection. Discontinue if significant pigmentation changes occur and consult dermatologist.
