Snap-8 is an octapeptide that mimics the N-terminal region of SNARE proteins, which are responsible for acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. By competitively inhibiting SNARE complex formation, Snap-8 reduces acetylcholine-mediated muscle contractions in facial muscles, thereby decreasing the formation and depth of expression lines.
